It's that time of year! Grab your controller and headset. Make sure your Live account is gold! Throw on your teams jersey and hit the store! Monday night is the release of Madden football! Not only is it football season, it's Madden season. I'm Demolition D - owner of the Redskins. Each week I will choose the game of the week {AFC} for the XSL Madden league.
The week of August 16th marks the beginning of the XSL Madden season. Each week, I will choose the team that deserves the attention to bring you deeper into the league than ever before!
Week one generates excitement, passion, amplified anticipation, and a fresh start. Questions will be answered. How will the rookies do? How will Tebow handle? Does this player still have attributes as the year before? What strategy should be used? How will one team succeed with hold outs, loss to free agency, and injuries?
The most intriguing match up in the AFC to me is the Ravens and the Jets. The Ravens and Jets defense already hampered with injury. Ed Reed, one of the leagues best corners is on the sidelines. The Jets are still without star corner Darrelle Revis.
With these two key players out, it could be an offensive show. Ravens QB, Flacco has a new target this year - WR Boldin. He comes over with a overall rating of 91 and a speed of 87. The ground game continues to look strong with Rice in the backfield. The Ravens success on offense depends if VIDEINFRA78 can keep him in the pocket long enough to throw with accracy.
The Jets hope to continue moving foward with their sophomore QB Sanchez. He comes in with a overall 82 and speed of 69. Despite his playoff success last season, his other attributes are still average. X LETHAL X, owner of the Jets, will have to mix it up between the ground and air to keep the Ravens defense off guard. Despite the loss of WR Holmes for the first four weeks, WR Edwards will be the number one guy. The backfield lacks the speed and will have to make it work with Green and vet RB, Tomlinson. LT isn't the stud RB as previous Maddens, but still has the strength to run over defenses.
It's hard to choose winners in the first couple weeks. It takes a few to work out the bugs and learn how to use their team to the best ability.
If both VIDEINFRA78 and X LETHAL X are even match behind the controller, you have to look to the pixilated giants on the big screen. I give the edge to the Ravens in week one. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
So, get those batteries charged, get a nap, grab that energy drink! Put the kids to bed. Tell the wife tonight is your night! Tonight is the night we all look forward to! This is our Christmas in August!
